Imagine if such a dramatic and terrible incident took place. If we think in terms of a single event causing such death the outpouring from the world would be unimaginable. But the truth is, 70,000 do die EACH year due to unsafe abortions according to a new report by a group that actually supports abortion rights.
The report, three years in the making, was compiled by the New York-based Guttmacher Institute, which supports abortion rights and is a leading source of data on abortion-related trends.
Sadly, the report is using their numbers to push for unrestricted abortion rather than changing the trends on the acceptability of abortions. If 70,000 people died each year in plane wrecks, would you get on a plane? The numbers is simply staggering and should be used as a rationale to stop abortions, not promote them!
A more staggering statistic:
Guttmacher estimated previously that the number of abortions worldwide fell from 45.5 million in 1995 to 41.6 million in 2003 — the latest year for which global figures were available.
Is anyone else simply staggered by that number? But keep in mind that American minds have been trending against abortion for some time now and the majority of Americans are against abortion.
A new Gallup Poll, conducted May 7-10, finds 51% of Americans calling themselves “pro-life” on the issue of abortion and 42% “pro-choice.” This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this question in 1995.
