The wonderful folks down at St. James Plantation (the last gated community allowed to incorporate in the state) have decided to expand their city limits. . forcibly. . . without the input of the annexed. They going to grow the town beyond the gates and annex folks that. . well, don't want to be annexed. But the geniuses at our legislature see nothing wrong with the practice and continue to protect it as they bow before the NC League of Municipalities (supported by taxpayer money as well).
Funny story, once the folks get annexed, they won't be able to visit the town hall because it's inside the gates. Makes perfect sense? Maybe the folks over at the Institute for Constitutional Law might want to take a look.
